He Needed to Know

...a Word Whisperer's chapter chronicling the Diary of the Falling Dominoes

He Needed to Know...

Waking up... from a startling dream,
the sweat soaked sheets were cold
as the frosty autumn of his life.
Staring at the ceiling,
with eyes wide open,
varying subtle tones of light
filtered through the tree branches
by way of the open window.

Each moment’s hue flickered
as the clouds opened and closed the night sky
like the blink of an eye;
each wink of azure allowing the moonlight
to come shining through
He felt an undeniable obsession
with the bittersweet reverie
of such a poignant awakening ...

Constantly sifting through
the mind's dust and ashes
searching for the clues and missing pieces.
He needed to know there was a reason
to believe his life was not lived in vain...
Those countless years of feeling he never belonged,
haunted the empty space on the sheets beside him
on this darkest of lonesome nights.

Oh… he was certain, in the very deepest depths
of the heart of his soul
... he had loved infinitely,
throughout the many changing seasons of his life.
He needed to know that the unrequited love
he had felt was not just a reflection
revealing the tender love shared
from the depths of his hopelessly lonely heart ...

Walking a lifetime of miles on his own
did not come without paying the price of freedom.
Solitude is a bitter pill to swallow at the end of the day.
Now he felt the wanderlust
of the long and twisting pathway
had lead into an absolute corner,
as a sobering loneliness
evolved into an ultimate revelation ...

With his back against the wall
the past loomed large behind him,
His life flashed before him.
Tears of trepidation overwhelmed
as the threads of a life’s tapestry
unraveled before his mind’s eye.

The only dream he ever feared
was to walk alone
at that predestined parting moment ...
Dropping to his knees ...
Never needing to know how to say goodbye …

6.14.2013         saying goodbye …possibly a poem

what will become of the traces left behind
when the wind blows
each insignificant speck of sand
beyond known bounds?

what could have been shared(?)
as if the thunder claps unplanned;
maybe it was your heart
and maybe it was mine(?)

perhaps indelible ink
fades in so much aglow
yet evanesces as waning crescent moon's
bitter sweet parting

more than this
of the passing of love,
no promises are none broken,
yet parting like the spark that flamed;

ignites the ache beyond sorrow...
echoing the muted sounds retraced,
circling back to familiar hushed solace.

...hush...!

Mending Unraveled Threads

... a poem about the times when we struggle to see things clearly ... Like the moments when it can feel like the mind can become a twisted and tangled mess ...Everybody has turbulent Monday's now and then ... Just some more often than others ...

Mending Unraveled Threads

From time to time the thoughts get so twisted
Lost in vague and muddled silent reverie
If only the silenced words could be spoken clearly
An untangled and redrawn picture
Seen in a new light’s shining glow

The silk threads spun get knotted and tousled
Where the web is blindly woven out of sight
Interlaced within the shadow’s darkness
Ensnarled loose skeins get harder to unravel
When the tangled mess is known by heart

When the trailing vines of the vineyard get twisted
Entwined in the forgotten moments of a time pasted
The grapes of wrath craft a bitter sweet vintage
Gone astray within the jumbled maze unfurling
The crawling vines reaching for the radiant sunlight

A journey’s tapestry montage becomes unraveled
Tugging too hard at the past’s hanging strand
Unraveling and exposing every last stitch of thread
As the collage of snippets from the past
Comes unglued

Can you imagine looking up at the enlightening moment
As the mosaic of glistening stars
Assembled the enchanting sky ?
For that instant the universe unvieled a crystal clear perfection
Far beyond the mystic illumination of the midnight sun

Do you remember you once held me tight as I trembled ?
You can’t see where you’re going in the pouring rain
You knew for an instant I was lost deep within my being
Until hope parted the clouds
Letting love’s light shine right on through ...

understand this moment has come to just write what you feel… don’t ever let anyone say what you believe you feel is wrong ~ " a past life lesson via experience ...  from the Word Whisper "

...calling out my name
from the far distance,
an enchanting  tone of voice
came to me in a dream
what if I was heard from another realm?
my soul screaming
into the silence of the night?
answering just wouldn't matter
when there is no one listening…

...awakened…
by a throaty voice
breaking the silence of slumber
standing quietly tall
unable to break out of a dream
that’s already come and gone…

...believing in something hard enough
does not make it true
ignorance of some portion of the truth
only makes you slightly aware
no matter how crystal clear
the vivid truth  becomes…

whether you are taking
the placebo or the medication
...perception is the healer of all wounds
answering rhetorical questions out loud
left me alone at dawn
like a black sheep
banished from the fold…

...questions aren't really questions
when the answers are already known
misunderstanding the literal,
erroneously innocent out of unawareness,
seems like taking the wrong road home...
